Hand-Wrapped, Foraged Herb Wand
Herb Wands have been used since humans used fire. Many cultures use them to cleanse, purify, deodorize, and as a natural incense.
Many people and cultures use the sacred smoke to send up prayers or to assist with meditation. Others use the smoke to create an ambiance or atmosphere in their homes or businesses.
Each herb wand is foraged and dried from an organic, urban working farm dedicated to a Feral Gardening ideology. Fresh herbs are lovingly wrapped with natural materials and dried for 3+months. Then when the herbs are fully dried, they are re-wrapped with a thin cord to ensure the plant matter stays together.
Each Wand is crafted and created based on the bounty of the Land and available foraged or lovingly-tended herbs & weeds. The Summer Selection for 2024 is: Rue & Yarrow.
Rue & Yarrow is a powerful blend for cleansing, purifying, and consecration. Rue is especially helpful for protection and intuition. It has been used by many to boost creativity. Yarrow is well-known for strengthening bonds and enhanced perception. These two combined are perfect for smoke clearing/cleansing or setting the perfect space for your personal or group work.
Excellent wand for the turning of the Season, upcoming celebrations of Lughnasadh/Lammas, or add to your bonfire for a powerful bug repellent.
How to use your herb wand: Make sure you have a fire safe bowl or plate. I enjoy using small cast iron bowls or high-fire clay plates. You want to ensure your receptacle can withstand the heat, but also that it has a wide opening to allow the smoke to freely move.
Light the end of your wand, allowing the herbs to catch fire. When the herbs are smoking well, blow out the flame. Allow the smoke to move freely.
If cleansing an area- move the wand around the area. Any time the smoke lessens, you may re-light the wand. Continue moving around the area, wafting the smoke into the corners and around any areas you feel appropriate. Make sure to watch carefully and don’t allow any embers or flaming herb bits to fall onto flammable surfaces.
If using on a person- follow the above instructions, but waft the smoke around the person. Ensure the smoke flows fully around the person.
For prayerful use - determine your intent or prayer. Meditate on the resolution, request, or blessing. Watch the smoke rise to the sky. Envision your prayer following the smoke.
Extinguishing the wand - You can crush the wand out carefully within your fire-proof vessel or have a bowl of earth for this purpose. You can also allow the wand to burn out on it’s own within your receptacle, but if you carefully crush it out, you may be able to use the wand a second time. Each wand is created for 1 - 2 time usage. If you want to use it again, ensure it is fully extinguished and store in a box, bag, or hung up. The last picture in the listing shows how I keep mine until use.
